Luxury Vinyl Plank & Shoe Mould - Caulk The Bottom?

We just installed LVP and put in a primed and painted shoe mold to match our baseboards. The question I have is if we are supposed to caulk the bottom of the shoe mold to the LVP or just do the top where the shoe mold and baseboard meet. The guy who laid the floor said it looked more finished if we did the bottom as well, but the things I've read for other types of floors like wood they say don't do that . My painter who is coming tomorrow to fill and caulk the nails, said just the top.

I'm If you mean eliminate the baseboard completely and just caulk where the new floor meets the wall, that's an option, but it tends not to look very good. In addition, you will need to repair and repaint the location of the old baseboard along the wall. It would be better to put the old plinth back in place (if it is in good condition) or add a new plinth. They sell color-matched paint samples in a small jar for around $3.00 if you want to test the color to see if it really matches. Or, as others have said, maybe you can install a new skirting board high enough to go over the new floor. and cover the entire area covered by the old baseboard. This would avoid having to patch or repaint the wall downstairs. what you want.

Caulking Between Baseboards And Hardwood???!!!

Our painter did not caulk between the baseboards and the new hardwood floor. He told us he never caulks this area because ground movement can rip the caulk out. Is this standard procedure to not caulk between hardwood and baseboards? If you caulked this area, was it successful?
